wedding bells ring!

By silin · June 20, 2010 · 0 Comments · 9 Views

To some, attending a wedding ceremony brings out the wanting to get married soon.

But my cousin’s wedding yesterday didn’t bring that wanting in me. Instead, it brought out the desire to wait.

Don’t get me wrong. My cousin’s wedding did not scare me away from marriages or weddings. Rather, it highlighted to me how sacred and holy a wedding and marriage is. A sacred covenant that I only want to share with the right one, the partner God has created for me.

Because of that, I shall wait for God’s plan to bring that person in my life. Because of that, I want to surrender again.

waiting for Him

In the dream, the bird was in a room. It wanted to be free so it pestered the leaders to let it out. Eventually, the leaders relented and it was allowed out of the room. As it stepped out into the open and the doors of the room closed behind it, it felt lost, “And so, now what?”

Perhaps God wants me to know that sometimes we do not get what we want because we are simply not ready. Perhaps God wants me to be patient like what He said during service yesterday, to wait for His perfect plan. Perhaps God wants me to be farsighted. I may not yet be ready for His plans and if He were to give me what I hoped for, I may be really lost after I have attained what I wanted.

Sometimes when we are in the midst of problems, we question why our prayers seem to go unanswered. We may be short sighted in that we do not seem to be able to comprehend how things can be part of His perfect plan. But when everything has settled down and issues have been resolved, we tend to look back and thank God for Him not answering what we had hoped for. Because things would not have turned out as wonderful as it is now.

learning to love

By silin · May 16, 2010 · 0 Comments · 3 Views

It is relatively easy to love someone who loves you back. It is relatively easy to love someone who has not disappointed you. It is relatively easy to love someone who has not hurt you deeply.

But love doesn’t just stop there.

Sometimes we are called to love those who have disappointed us. Sometimes we are called to love those who have cut us deeply. Sometimes we are called to love those who actually dislike us.

And that is when we need to learn to love.

About two weeks ago, my cell leader was reading a poem to us about how God works. One portion that really stood out was this – “when I asked God to teach me, He gave me opportunities”.

There are times we learn to love when we are given issues and conflicts with that other person. Because those are the times when we find it difficult to love and those are the times when we really need to learn.

bus trips home

I am not a "public transports person" but if I had to make a choice, I would definitely prefer taking on the bus. I enjoy that serenity, that quietness (of cause only when the bus is half empty) that staring out of the window and listening to music on my mp3. I enjoy that opportunity to calm down and to reflect. I enjoy that time of thinking, feeling and listening/ talking to God. During those trips, life seems to slow down. During those trips, the moments belong only to you and God.
